COVID-19 National Emergency Ends

President Biden signed legislation last week that ended the COVID-19 National Emergency effective immediately, although the Public Health Emergency (PHE) is still in effect until May 11th. While the end of the National Emergency will not have an effect on employer-sponsored benefit plans, next month’s end to the PHE marks the end of the tolling of certain “Outbreak Period” benefit elections, including COBRA.
