April 2023: Charitable Donation Committee Selects New Recipients

East Dallas Exchange Club, Shelby Farms Park, and West Cancer Foundation are among this quarter's recipients.

We are pleased to announce that the Adams Keegan's Charitable Donation Committee has selected the following organizations to receive funding in 2023.

East Dallas Exchange Club Charity and Dinner Event: This event will be held on July 1, 2023 and supports the East Dallas Exchange Club, which financially supports local Dallas ISD schools near the Adams Keegan Dallas Office. Last year, they raised $250,000 with a primary emphasis on giving back to underprivileged students in the area. Some examples of where the money was spent:

  • 5 scholarships ($5000 each) to deserving high school seniors who will attend 4-year institutions (UT Dallas, Texas Tech, Texas Women’s University) and would not otherwise have the means to attend
  • $7500 to improve the teacher’s lounge at JL Long Middle School
  • $25,000 for the enhancement of Mt. Auburn Elementary School's Science Lab

This year’s Auction and Dinner will invite National Sportscaster Joe Buck as guest speaker and feature a charity silent auction and raffle.

Park After Dark benefiting Shelby Farms Conservancy: The event occurs on May 11, 2023. Shelby Farms Park Conservancy (SFPC or the Conservancy) is the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that manages and operates Shelby Farms Park and Shelby Farms Greenline through a private-public partnership with Shelby County Government. Although Shelby Farms Park and Greenline are publicly owned, SFPC is responsible for daily management and fundraising to meet operations and budget needs. It also supervises the park's future vision and stewarding its natural resources. Park After Dark is a special evening at Shelby Farms featuring cocktails, dinner, live music, and a silent + live auction.

West Fight On benefiting West Cancer Foundation: This event occurs on September 9, 2023, and supports WCF in advocating for the community. In addition to funding the most promising scientific and clinical cancer research, this event supports the education and training of future providers through fellowships and residency programs.

MJCC 3rd Annual Pickleball Palooza benefiting Memphis Jewish Community Center: This event occurs from October 19-22, 2023. It benefits Fogelman Jewish Family Service, which offers services for homebound senior citizens such as assistance and kosher meals. Provisions include creating food bags for food-insecure families and arranging gifts and field trips for adults with special needs. Our gift will provide a year’s worth of kosher meals for 12 homebound seniors.

We are proud to support these incredible and hard-working organizations.

During each of our quarterly meetings, the Charitable Donation Committee discusses and votes on all donation requests made to Adams Keegan. Our Employee of the Year Committee consists of employees nominated by their colleagues in our quarterly TEAM Awards. Besides soliciting donations from employees for non-profits that they care about, the Committee also considers requests from outside sources.
